Investment Pieces
New Season Styled Edits, with a Way to Make an Investment Purchase Seem a Little More Bank Friendly in the Long Run.
*This post is written in Collaboration with Croissant – A shopping tool for effortless reselling*
I am very much a kill two birds with one stone for everything person, but I think being able to sell something I just bought for basically retail price is a new personal win. I feel like we all have experienced that feeling of being obsessed with something, investing in it and not loving it so much 6 months later. How annoying is it, when you decide to sell that item and sell it for less than a quarter of what you paid for (after lowering the price about a thousand times waiting for it to sell).
Evidently someone heard my frustration at selling Khaite jeans for a criminally low price, and created a platform called Croissant. Something that makes investment purchases feel like a lot less pressure. Essentially, you create a Croissant account on their site or through their app. Then download their Chrome extension on desktop to see guaranteed resale values while you shop one of their compatible sites like Net-a-Porter. After checking out with the extension, you lock in your Guaranteed Resale Value to redeem later if you choose to resell.
See their full list of brands & retailers to shop from with the extension here.
In simpler terms, you can get a guaranteed resale price whilst you shop at all your favourite brands and companies. When you want to sell, just go into your Croissant Collection, click sell, ship the item and get paid after 5-7 days. No self-listing or waiting around for items to sell at a quarter of the original price. So, those aforementioned Khaite jeans I spent $400 on and sold for $70, I would have gotten so much more for with less effort through Croissant.
Here are some investment items I love for spring that you can shop with Guaranteed Buybacks™ on MyTheresa, Net-A-Porter, and Farfetch, Croissant being partnered with these brands makes shopping just that little bit better especially as most of us use these sites for bigger purchases.
A Very Khaite Spring
Nothing gets me more excited than filtering the new in section to my favourite designers and seeing so many good pieces flood to the top. In an ideal (delusional) world I would have The Row as my closet building blocks, using the Guaranteed Buybacks™ to trade in pieces when they don’t serve my outfits anymore. Then I would add all of my interesting and dramatic personality pieces from Khaite. These jeans are something different and cool, along with a fun belt and top that gives us a 2024 version of a ‘going out top’. Paired with investment accessories in the form of floral mesh flats and a navy suede bag. If you want to try out the mesh flat trend but worried you won’t wear them enough, Croissant is a great way to try out trends. You can wear them a few times and decide to resell, or love them forever and mesh on.
A Casual Spring Outfit (Especially with the current weather)
With a base outfit made up of essentials like this sweater and jeans, paired with a statement coat that is sticking around in the current climate but you can sustainably sell it on when it’s time for a summer version using Croissant’s Guaranteed Buybacks™, all topped off with a chic but practical pair of trainers. Accessories will add interest to any outfit, for example this belt and earrings. As for the bag, this bag seems to be having a bit of a moment right now, if you get your hands on one and decide in a few months it’s not the bag for you, there is peace of mind in Croissant.
It’s a great tool if you’re also a slight hoarder like me and put off putting things up for sale. Whilst I try to make careful decisions when buying investment pieces, I love that if in say a year I don't wear it as much anymore, I can sell it for way more than I would elsewhere.
