A Shopping Diary Guide to Marrakesh
From the chicest hotel to YSL, the five places you must go in Marrakesh.
(The easy outfit I wore on repeat, Toteme Blazer, Zara Satin Trousers, Adidas and many white t-shirts. Not forgetting my Little Liffner bag that is surgically attached to me.)
Don’t worry, this is still very much a fashion blog, but recently I went on a rather last minute excursion to Marrakesh, Morocco. Somewhere I’ve always wanted to go and enjoyed thoroughly, so much so that I’m sharing my top five places that if you should visit, you should put high on your list. Whilst I believe you should obviously do all the touristy things that makes Marrakesh so great, like the Souks and the Medina, these are the extra curricular places that should not be missed!
Look out next week for a resort esque, ‘What to wear in Morocco.’ Styled looks that will make you forget (momentarily) that it’s January.
Jewellery note: All I wore this trip were Enesea earrings, chic and minimal with the so important twist.
To Stay:
A mix of minimal coolness and all the right patterns and prints, this is an absolute must. Whether you’re going to the hotel or just for a chic lunch, I absolutely loved the red and white stripe adorned furnishings and lashings of cool Moroccan touches. A luxurious hotel that bathes in the rich culture of Marrakesh. Whilst you’re there, visit the shop for one off pieces for your interiors.

To go:
Yves Saint Laurent Museum
Combined with the next two, this is definitely a day plan. Start with the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, this is a chic space with an exhibition dedicated to Yves and his work. Whilst photos aren’t allowed inside, I can tell you it is an array of amazing tailoring and hooded silk dresses, along with some original sketches.
Usually my next comment would seem distasteful, but the gift shop is one of the best parts of the museum. It is far beyond your usual gift shop, there are of course a number of gorgeous coffee table books but I was really taken by the YSL/Marrakesh jewellery and accessories. Gold and silver pieces in multiple shapes on black cotton string, so chic. Also make sure you watch the short film on the way out.

To Eat:
The Majorelle Restaurant
This is where you should go between the Museum and the gardens, to grab a coffee or a Moroccan lunch. Just a step along from the museum, you enter through an almost hidden wall door.

To Go:
Jardin Marjorelle
This was the highlight of everything, be prepared for a short queue but I promise it’s worth the wait. There is so much to see, with a farmers market in-between. Also note how the below Dragon Diffusionesque bag is being used as a garbage carrier.

To Eat:
This restaurant is a little hidden gem off the main square, literally blink and you’ll miss it, we stumbled across it by accident and we ended up being very grateful. The best part of Marrakesh is that you can walk through a little door off of a busy street and it opens up to be a huge beautiful space. This was no exception, with a jungle like garden at the back and a little shop/inside seating area at the front. You also watch your food being made which is always fun. The food is delicious and all authentic, I’m still thinking about a drink I had that included orange blossom.

Look out next week for a resort style, what to wear to Morocco stylised edit.
