The first evening I land in New York (I say this like it isn’t only my second fashion week lol) I always feel a wave of overwhelming excitement, emphasis on the overwhelming. With fashion week energy pulsing through the city and a cocktail of a lack of sleep and hours spent on the plane, my first evening is always imposter syndrome heavy. However, by the end of the trip I am basically having an emotional breakdown when it comes to leaving (this wasn’t helped by my Uber playing ‘New York State of Mind’ on the way back to the airport, his playlist was impeccable, but almost led to tears in the back of a Toyota Hybrid).
There is something to be said about the energy in New York, it is completely infectious. If you’re from the UK you will know there is a certain sense of restraint in all areas of life, it is so refreshing to be somewhere where people aren’t afraid to speak out or dress differently. On the subject of dress, the fashion in New York is just so great. Bold, fun and so chic. Not to say brits aren’t chic, but you can literally wear anything in New York and no one bats an eyelid. So, on that note, here are some of things I wore, saw and loved:

Friday 7th Feb Day One
Not lots to report, I landed at midday jumped into meetings then trawled over to Soho for an obligatory La Colombe. I got a Dirty Oatcha? It was amazing but I learned pretty quickly that NYC Winter is a different breed to London and turns out, even with leather gloves and a great fur coat - iced drinks will give you hyperthermia. To go with my oatcha I wore my favourite jeans, black turtleneck, boots and my new child (Khaite bag).
From there I went to The Webster and made my first ‘investment’ purchase within two hours of landing. I bought the Jujuvera Petra Pendant in silver and tried on a cuff I’m toying with the idea buying soon. (You’ll notice this purchase was a reoccurring theme throughout all of my latter outfits.) I then went to a Ruadh preview, my version of church (Happier Grocery) had a bath and passed out. Luxury.

Saturday 8th Feb Day Two:
I actually love how early jet lag makes me wake up, doing so in these amazing silk PJS.
In my shortish but amazing history of NYFW I have stayed at The Ludlow Hotel only, I wonder if I should stay somewhere new next time but I love it so much. The service is amazing, it’s beautiful, convenient and located right next to my favourite coffee shop ‘The Ludlow Coffee Supply’. My go to order is an extra hot Oat Flat White with a tiny bit of their house made bourbon vanilla syrup, (no actual alcohol is in it that I know of, I’m not at that stage of jet lag yet).
My 7am coffee get up in between trying on my outfit for the Khaite show that evening, surreal. Fur coat, gala pants, and loafers.

My darling coffee shop and trying on the Khaite pony hair Monroe loafers that I may or may not have ordered since.
After the ecstasy of my coffee order and yoghurt/granola breakfast combo that I bought from Happier Grocery the night before, I met with the chicest, Ilana. We grabbed coffee in the hotel she stayed at and chatted about life and babies, she was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met in the industry and I’m so grateful every time I meet someone I admire and they turn out to be even better in person.

Fur coats were the NYC cool girl prescription. Ilana’s was Loulou de Saison.
I will have to do a part two as Saturday was a looong day. After this I headed to the UES to visit the holy trinity.
The outfit for the occasion, I wore an amazing fringe poncho from By Malene Birger (via ShopBessette) with my favourite black turtleneck, Eglitta jeans, black boots, Row bag, Phoebe Philo sunglasses and of course my Juju necklace.
I started off in The Row where I was on a Spring collection mission, I came away with the dark brown Awar ballet flats and my favourite Eglitta jeans in a beautiful periwinkle blue cotton for spring.
The Row shoe dept is my idea of an ideal first date location.
The ballet flats in question, my issue with wearing items the minute after purchasing is ever growing.
The Eglitta Cotton Jean in the perfect Periwinkle blue.

The trousers again, but styled with a grey cashmere knit, black coat and oh yes the Juju necklace. Plus a little up close action with the flats (this was pre wearing them I promise).
Okay part two coming soon but leaving you with some Toteme/Khaite UES store content.
